What We Do
AULAN can only help if you are
a member and if you are involved yourself. Regular general meetings are held for members only at the Association's
address at the Kimrick restaurant on Mojacar playa. Opening membership is only 10 euros and if you live in the Levante
Almeriense (see Area covered by the AULAN), you can join (see How to Join). We invite members of all nationalities although, at the moment, meetings are held in English for practical reasons.
AULAN's primary objective is to try to assist its members. As such, one ongoing activity will be to help
members ensure that all legal documentation and fiscal responsibilities related to their properties is kept up-to-date. Much
of this information will appear on the AULAN website, an important means of communication
between the Association and its members.
For those already encountering problems, AULAN
will review their complaints and give general advice on possible courses of action. Important:
Members are advised that the Association is primarily a pressure group. Although we propose to collaborate closely with vetted
legal and technical advisors, it will be up to the individual to seek legal advice when necessary and any fees incurred in
the defence of their cases will be the individual's responsibility.
In addition to working closely with the media to ensure regular coverage of our activities and the cases that AULAN
decides to champion, when appropriate, the Association will organise public activities and other initiatives to generate publicity
for its efforts.
The AULAN steering committee - comprised of both Spanish and non-Spanish
members - are all long-standing community residents and several have successfully fought off urban abuse problems on an individual
basis.
